Once again it is several years since my last blog post. It is time I started to think about it again. I can't even remember if I posted about my latest grandchild Luca Gabriel. Luca was born in October 2019 just 5 months before the start of the Covid Pandemic and that seems to be in the distant past now. I can't believe he is going to be 7 in October.
Now to come to the subject of my post, the bathtub. Luca and his big brother Aaron still enjoy a shared bath when they visit us.
I was looking through my documents on my PC and came to my poems folder. I found an entry labelled Thoughts from the Bathtub, hence my thoughts about the current bath sharing. It isn't a poem as you will see but it must have provoked me to write.
Thoughts from the Bathtub.
Decided it was time to take my annual bath this morning. The reason being that my daughter bought me some lovely Geranium and Orange bath foam for Christmas. It smells divine.
As I was filling the bath I was reminded of the reason I don't bathe very often, in fact it may be my first bath of the decade as I don't remember having one last year. The reason is that our bath takes a while to fill as it is very long. I can lie flat in it so never have it deep enough to cover my belly (not because I have a big one, honest) we have to think of the environment in these matters.
Any way as I soaked in the luxurious scented bubbles my mind was wandering. My first memory of having baths was as a small child when bath time was shared with my younger brother. Don't remember any bath toys but I do remember playing with the round metal lids of the Gibbs Dentifrice tins which was the toothpaste of the era. We used to stick them on each others chests like suctions, (small minds amused)
My two eldest children used to share bath time and what entered my head today was that I could have bathed all 4 of them in this bath. Well maybe not as their ages span 14 years so would have been frowned on. Certainly would have been possible if their ages were closer.
I struggled to turn on my tum to soak that for a while but not very comfortable, so struggled again to turn back. Next problem was how to get out. Even with the handles to pull myself up it was hard work. One of the problems of ageing I suppose. As is the cutting of toenails, which I did manage as they were really soft after the long soak. Maybe I should do it more often.
I smell so good now after using the matching Geranium and Orange body lotion. The whole of the upstairs smells of it too. Lovely.
